The ACESS is organised along the similar concepts of the American College of Sports Medicine in North America, the European College of Sports Science in Europe, and the Exercise and Sports Science Australia in ANZAC. Asia is the only continent without a trans-national organisation to unify Exercise and Sports Science professionals, promote collaboration and to consolidate efforts to elevate the standards of research, education and practice, and the ACESS is to fulfill the gap.

The ACESS is a professional body to represent and promote the advancement of Exercise and Sports Science among fellow practitioners, academics and students in the Asian nations/ regions/ territories. The Management Committee of the ACESS have representatives from China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, China.
