Dr. Edwin Chong obtained his doctorate in Exercise Physiology from The University of Western Australia in 2012 under scholarship grants from The University of Western Australia and the Australian Government’s Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. His main research interests are on the role of sensory systems in psychophysiology and their influence in exercise regulation. He also focuses on developing evidence-based methods for improving performance and health of athletes and soldiers.
Capitalizing his experience as the Head of Sport Physiology department at Singapore Sport Institute, Dr Chong uses his applied knowledge to his current appointment as the Senior Exercise Scientist at the Centre of Excellence for Soldier Performance, Singapore Armed Forces. Dr Chong is also a teaching faculty at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and serves as a member for the Institutional Review Board for Republic Polytechnic. Dr Chong is serving as a review editor for the Frontiers in Sports and Active Living. He is also the Singapore representative and panel member for a Multi-National Task Force in developing a Standardisation Recommendation (STANREC) for physiological status monitoring to mitigate exertional heat illness
