An ex-national sailor for Singapore, Joel is passionately curious about developing training programmes to continuously improve athletes’ performance. He graduated with first class honours from Nanyang Technology University in BSc. Sports Science and Management before starting his career as an Associate Sport Physiologist at the Singapore Sport Institute where he honed his skills in developing training programs and overseeing operations of advanced sport physiology labs. His contributions extended to designing environmental programs for national teams, including the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Transitioning to the Singapore Armed Forces as an Exercise Scientist, Joel furthered his expertise by designing optimized training programs and pioneering heat acclimation guidelines for soldiers.

Joel is currently pursuing a PhD in Sport Science with a focus on thermal physiology at the University of Western Australia.
